Opto electronics industry
The optical industry includes classical optics manufacturers as well as companies in the measurement and sensor technology field, in the area of laser technology and laser material processing, providers and manufacturers of opto-electronic components and systems, producers of lighting technology and companies in the area of medical technology.
Above all, cleanliness and the absence of particulate matter play a major role in production processes used in the optical industry. The reason for this is clear:
Optical technologies are used to generate, shape, measure and utilize light. Light that meets particles is unpredictably deflected or bent, or produces shadows. These effects create disturbances both within a microscope as well as on the lens of an automobile headlight.
The products and manufacturing processes used in the optical industry must thus be designed so that no particulate matter can contaminate built-in lenses, glasses or mirrors. Even the screws used to mount covers on automobile headlights, for example, must be designed so that no abrasion can occur when the covers are screwed on – thus eliminating any particulate matter.
